Research Use Only (RUO) Guidelines

'Research Use Only' (RUO) is a compliance category, not a marketing phrase. Material labeled RUO is intended solely for laboratory research and is not authorized for human or veterinary use, clinical diagnosis, or treatment.

What RUO means

RUO material is manufactured, sold, and shipped for in-vitro or preclinical research. It has not been evaluated by regulators for human administration. This applies regardless of the compound's chemical identity or its therapeutic potential in other regulated forms.

What RUO does not permit

RUO material is not a compounded medication, not a supplement, and not an over-the-counter therapeutic. It is not intended for self-administration, injection into humans or animals, dosing regimens, or any clinical use. Suppliers that market RUO products for human use are outside the compliance category.

Buyer responsibilities

Buyers should represent themselves accurately (research institution, independent laboratory, qualified professional), maintain material safety data, store material appropriately, and dispose of it through standard laboratory waste procedures. Personal use is out of scope.

How reputable suppliers signal RUO

Clear RUO labeling on product pages and packaging, explicit terms of sale that prohibit human use, and refusal to provide dosing guidance. Suppliers that avoid clinical language on their public site are demonstrating the standard.

How Kyzen One handles RUO compliance

We surface RUO suppliers in a category separate from clinical providers. Editorial language on supplier profiles avoids treatment framing. Suppliers that blur the RUO line — for example, by publishing human dosing guidance — are excluded from the marketplace.

Frequently asked questions

Is buying research-grade peptides legal?

Regulation varies by jurisdiction. Research-grade sale for laboratory use is broadly permitted; representing RUO material as a therapeutic is not. Consult local law.

Can a supplier ship RUO material internationally?

Shipping rules depend on both origin and destination country, and on the specific compound. Reputable suppliers publish shipping restrictions explicitly.

Does 'high purity' change RUO status?

No. Purity is a quality attribute; RUO is a regulatory category. A 99.9% pure peptide sold RUO is still RUO.
